In the near future, the space station has been completed. Akira's father, Dr. Yamada, the director of the rocket launch and landing site, has been abducted by the Red Bats. Their purpose is to use Dr. Yamada to board the space station. Akira, a young boy, volunteers to go on a mission to find his father, Dr. Yamada, but is rejected, saying it is impossible for a child to do so.
