The time is the Taisho era (1912-1926). A 16-year-old girl, Megumi Nonomura, is sent to work for a wealthy merchant uncle and his wife, but her hair is cut off and she is thrown out of the house for an unforgivable crime. Reiji Kirishima, a beautiful assistant professor at a university, who had been responsible for the incident, offers to hire Megumi, saying, “Will you let me be responsible for your hair until it grows back?" and offers to hire Megumi. Set on the shores of Lake Chuzenji in Nikko, a prosperous international summer resort, this is a tale of pure love and romance that depicts a summer of attraction between two people who transcend age and position.
